Out of the Blue Photo

The Best and worse things in life seem to just come out of the blue... Let's just hope that at least most of the surprises life has in store for us are good...
This one was taken an route from Athens to Kos. We left Athens on a windless day, oily beautiful blue water, plenty of boats all around us. We sailed all through the day and until 2 O'clock we had a perfectly calm see and a good forecast. At around that time I finished my shift and went to sleep. An hour later I woke up feeling the 25 tons boat rocking and rolling... A maltemy (strong wind typical of this area, but almost never in this time of the year...). After long and hard 12 hours we got to Kos. Turned out that we were not the only ones surprised by the sudden storm - a whole regatta was stuck in Kos marina waiting for the sea to finally calm down (which took three days...). The three wonderful days we spent in Kos more than made up for it. It turned out to be a great trip after all!

Great shot, Liora - the light is wonderful in this one as it accentuates the texture of the ropes, and is reflected off the water surface. The compo as such with the ropes is also nice, in a kind of "still life" style. A pretty and colorful impression from your Greek holiday.

Bad sea can spoil the cruise, but raching your destination is sweeter after that. This is a nice shot, Liora. I like the dark blue sea, and the texture and the sapes of the roap. Well done.

Liora, this is an excellent capture of these lines, standing out against this beautiful blue water, that little bit of white water along the boat is very nice as well, and the thin white railings form a nice detail. Very good!

Awesome pic, excelent clearity and the illusion of wanting to touch the ropes and the wave about to come in the yacht. Wonderful blue.

Nice composition, really the light is completed on ropes and I like waves near the boat which are a little surexposed however. The sea is of a blue to be made dream. Good eye and good photo.

Jolie composition, vraiment la lumière est parfaite sur les cordes et j'aime bien les vagues près du bateau qui sont un peu surexposées cependant. La mer est d'un bleu à faire rêver. Bon oeil et bonne photo.

The shot is a good presentation of everyday life as such and what the subject means to you, it doeasn't have to mean to someone else.
But this one is universal, followed by your informative note, Liora!
Not only that I like your composition and tight cropping, but also opposing white and blue as marine colours.

This is really nice Liora! Great shapes and textures all close enough to see interesting detail and to fill the frame. The light on the gentle swell of the water is very nice too. Well seen, well done.

Simple and beautiful: deep, dark water only slightly disturbed by the boat and the rolls of white rope contrasts nicely. You made a clean picture with a strong presence. I can smell the see and I get the dry feeling of rope in my hands.

I in this summer too have lived some time in Greece, and, there are such concurrences, I was simply bewiched with a similar picture of ship ropes on a deck :)) I then have forgotten the chamber and now I see it at you! :) Magnificent contrast of colors! bravo!

tout en simplicite , cette photo nous relate bien l'effet d'un visoin marine...le détail du cordage est bien réalise avec en fond une mer splendide et les remous du bateau...j'aime beaucoup...bravo pour avoir eu l'idée...amicalement BI
