Photographer’s Note
On our way from Sarahan to Chitkul we stopped at this village, Rakcham, to enquire about the boarding facilities. The classes at the local village school were just over and the kids were going home. we found this group of kids having fun and taking their bags in a shawl.
The winters are very harsh here and the schools are closed during the winter. There are only few months in a year during which the villagers can cultivate their crops. and probably its only during these months that the children can have fun.
Rakcham is a village in the Sangla valley, Kinnaur, in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
