New Zealand frigate HMNZS Te Mana Photo

Photographer’s Note

This photo show the New Zealand frigate, HMNZS Te Mana, which visited Hong Kong with the naval tanker HMNZS Endeavour.

In the background it the ever increasing Kowloon skyline.

The tall building under construction is the new International Commerce Centre.

I had already taken many photos of the frigate, when I noticed the small fishing boat coming - to help give the composition that 'Made in Hong Kong' look.

HMNZS Te Mana (F111) is one of ten Anzac class frigates and one of two serving in the Royal New Zealand Navy.

The name Te Mana is Māori, approximately translating as 'status' or 'authority'.

Bonsoir, mon ami Andrew,
La surprise est patente en regardant ta composition. La ville gigantesque, les immeubles qui se haussent sur la pointe des pieds, une perpétuelle évolution quant à la construction.
Et puis, ce petit bateau à proximité de ce monstre d'acier qui donne la démesure du modernisme !
Une excellente prise de vue.

Hey Andrew,

I`d fix the contrasts just a bit, otherwise an interesting scene of the happening in the harbour. It`s interesting to see the skyline still rising - when will it be enough. A good portrayal. Them lucky sailors, sailing all over the world. :)

Hello Andrew,
I find the composition and the depth of the photo excellent! I think you even managed to capture the right position of the boat which is in the FG :) First, this boat adds some "warmth" to this "blue-coloured" view; second - it helps to create a very good depth! and third, if we compare this little boat to the ship in the BG...
I like it very much :) Interesting view.
