Photographer’s Note

On the way back home, we stopped at Mudurnu, a very cozy small town south of Bolu. This is where I discovered this craftsman who was working on fixing a crescent and a star in copper, the symbols of the Turkish Flag. I was particularly happy about the background of his shop full of what we call " Alem " in turkish, the brass crescents which are commonly found on the top of mosque domes.

Hi Izzet! what a nice portrait of this man in his work place! A place really tiny and well organized.
It is a long time I didn't see posts from you, as well as I don't see Nezih 's works - I rememebr him since he posted many Tukish people at work.

how do you enjoy that 14-24mm toy?... i for one find it really exciting when used together with the d700 gear... results could be stunning...

what i find here is a classical "man in his workshop" environmental portrait... i think - you have an unlimited photo opportunity in turkey, in this terms...

Hi Izzet, how are you? It has been a long time. A beautiful timeless depiction of the copper master going about his craft. Fine use of the wide angle to show the interior of the shop in pleasant natural lighting and enchanting detail.

İzzet Bey bu fotoğrafınız gözümden kaçmış yeni fark ettim. Hatta Mudurnu'ya gelmişsiniz kısa bir süre önce. Ben de burda yaşıyorum, sizle karşılaşmak çok isterdim:) Başka bir gelişinizde karşılaşmak umarım nasip olur.

Really interesting shop scene, full of dusty life and antique rituals, the colors are in tone with the quiet mood, and the composition very informative.
