In the photo you can see the small harbour and beach of Vernazza. In the background the main church.

Vernazza is one of the jewels of the Cinque Terre. It is spread around a natural harbor and is one that has
kept most the feature of a fishing village. Known throughout the world and visited by tourists of various nationalities Vernazza is a great place for an interesting and evocative visit . The marine village is a incredible result of millennial work of the peasants who have transformed the steep slopes into fertile terraces for the cultivation of olive trees and vine. The fragile and delicate area has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1997 and is part of National Park of Cinque Terre, created in 1999. The village goes down along the river Vernazzola (now covered) through a narrow and steep valley, to the port where the main square lies. Like the other villages of the Cinque Terre, Vernazza was fortified by the Genoese. It was however the only one to have a sheltered port for galleys, which was especially useful in the war against Pisa.

Vernazza è una delle perle delle Cinque Terre. È distribuita attorno a un porticciolo naturale ed è quella che ha maggiormente conservato l’aspetto di borgo marinaro. Conosciuta in tutto il mondo e visitata da turisti di varie nazionalità Vernazza, è un luogo ideale per una visita interessante e suggestiva. Il borgo marino è il risultato incredibile del millenario lavoro dei contadini che hanno fatto di necessita virtù, trasformando i ripidi pendii in fertili terrazzamenti per la coltivazione della vite e dell'ulivo. Il fragile e delicato territorio è stato dichiarato Patrimonio Mondiale dell'Umanità nel 1997 dall'Unesco e fa parte del Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre, sorto nel 1999. L’abitato scende lungo il corso del torrente Vernazzola (ora coperto) per una stretta e ripida valle, fino al porto dove si apre la piazza principale. Come gli altri borghi delle Cinque Terre, Vernazza è stata fortificata dai Genovesi.
Fu tuttavia l’unica a possedere un porto riparato per le galee, che risultò utile soprattutto nella guerra contro i Pisani.

ciao Donato,
essendo appena tornata da un fine settimana sulla costa amalfitana, ho ancora negli occhi immagini simili - coste rocciose, barche che riposano sulla spiaggia, piccole baie tranquille... la tua foto restituisce appieno quest'atmosfera.
la calda luce obliqua da' veramente un senso di tranquillita' e di pace.

Another enchanting shot from Vernazza, which you show here in warm colours and with a lovely evening atmosphere. The composition is excellent with the boats on the foreground, the diagonals of the water line and the walls. The POV also gives a nice perspective. Interesting wrinkled lines on the background rocks close to the water line. The people add life to the shot. Un ottimo lavoro!

Beautiful view of Vernazza, in splendid evening light. Nice beach with fishermen's boat. You went there in good time - still no to so much people there. I high season it must be crowdy. I suppose the train is going through the tunnel in the middle of the photo.

senz'altro uno scatto che se ne vedono davvero pochi. Sopratutto hai la sensazione di esserci proprio in mezzo alla scena in quell'esatto istante.
Poi il senso di pace che comunica grazie anche alla presenza dei bimbi sulla destra è davvero notevole.

This is an interesting slice of daily life!
The row boats are at rest on shore and the kids are playing on the beach...
Inclusion of the architecture hints of a town, and the people possibly behave like tourists hehehe...

I find this a very well balanced photo. I really like your choice of composition with these boats in the FG - they sort of look like a good natural framing for the whole composition.
I see that the photo was taken late in the afternoon, so I guess this explains this very warm colour gamma :)

Great shot my friend, love these neat well maintained old wooden fishing vessels at rest until the next mornings fishing.
The children on the bach gives this image a very warm fell to it.

Hello Donato,

Never been there, but it looks peaceful and serene, but probably in high sumemr to much tourists are taking over the place. It breaths warmth, lazy sunday afternoon feeling, with the boats waiting on the beach. But most of all that warm light what glows over the place is for me the best part.

A very beautiful & impressive coastal scene Donato, It is well composed with the boats in the FG adding interest & depth but I think it's the soft colours & light that makes it special giving it classical old painting type of look. Excellent work, my compliments.

Nicely composed shot of this beautiful place. The addition of the boats in the foreground was a good choice. The shoreline leads the eye through the shot to the rail tunnel in the distance. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail. The people add a nice sense of life and scale to the shot.

questi scatti con le barchette in secca a riva sono un classico delle pittoresche immagini nelle cinque terre così come nella costiera amalfitana. Le ho sempre cercate anche in molte situazioni, sia per sfruttarle come punto focale in primo piano che, a volte, per esaltare, grazie ai bei colori o alle particolari caratteristiche del legno, uno scatto con delle condizioni non particolamente buone. Qui mi piace molto la regolazione con questa tonalità quasi dorata, che hai utilizzato anche nello scatto precedente, il paesaggio è molto suggestivo, sempre con quella roccia sagomata incredibilmente dalla natura e a destra le persone che animano la scena.

Ottima dal punto di vista tecnico, ma non solo. Très belle photo également !
J'aime particulièrement les couleurs et la netteté des barques en premier plan.
Il se dégage beaucoup de calme de cette photo et ce n'est pas évident d'obtenir cette sensation vu la masse de touristes que Vernazza attire.
Il me tarde de découvrir tes autres photos des Cinque Terre.
Non se si avro la pazienza di aspettare ottobre finalmente! ; -)
