«Lower Monastery Xenia» near city Almyros Magnisias, Kato Monastery Xenias: Monasteries and places of worship, asceticism and historical monuments are scattered everywhere in Greece. In northwestern Othry between the villages Kokotoi and Vrynaina in a beautiful forest of oak and a little higher than the Tsingenorrema is the oldest of all. The first name was «Moni Kissiotissas» which then became «Upper Monastery Xenia» from one version foreign-came the (icon) image (eikona) Virgins.

It is not known exactly when constructed, the first reports indicate that in 1204 destroyed by Cardinal Franc Pelagio. In 1522 the Mount Athos monastery of Vatopedi is donated to this piece of honest zone. In 1663 the completed painted by the artist who painted John 345 forms and illustrations covering the entire interior of the Catholic.

Local tradition says that during the years of the reign of Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos (1282 - 1321) founded a second monastery, Upper shareholders, in memory of St. Nicholas. Later renamed «Lower Monastery Xenia», and went there and the image of the Virgin Child of the Upper Monastery Xenia. Over the years this series has suffered destruction and restoration, and during the national uprising played a major role.
During the devastating earthquake of 1981 and the two monasteries major damage happened. The Upper restored, and work in this still ongoing. For the Dutch had originally decided to abandon and to build new at a hill, something happened. This new monastery, which the Catholic adorned by mosaics performances function as women, while the completion of ongoing work. The old Dutch still stands injured, irrefutable witness to history and works of an earlier era.
