Photographer’s Note
Taken while sitting on the rocks at Currumbin beach, where the beach meets the river.
The surfers patiently waiting for a set to come in and the just rising sun was hitting the buildings of Surfers Paradise in the background turning the building white.
I have never seen Surfers Paradise like this and it really appealed to me, it didn't last long as once the sun rose a little higher the buildings took on their usual dark grey colour.

Hi Jude,
A very nice catch, this is always how I see life in Queensland, especially the "Coast".
The front lit skyline looks spectacular.
Hope you put your wettie on and paddled out for a few after you shot this.
Nice work.
Regards
Peter

Hi Jude,

Hello Jude,
The waves seem not that high, but strong enough to dance on. I never did this, would not even keep my balance, but it's nice to see and here the surfers play a nice and important role in the overal composition. Together with the deep blue water they create a wonderful contrast to the city in the background which seems to be bathing in the sun and a slight misty feeling probably caused by the water....great effect.

Henk

Hello Jude
A really good capture of Surfers Paradise from Currumbin. You were fortunate to be able to include to many interesting features - the haze in front of the skyscrapers, the patient surfers and the white foam. Very well seen. Tfs, Marlene

Hi Jude, composition is good contrasting the fluidity of the FG with the stark rectangular buildings. I know where I'd rather be... cheers, Steve

Hello Jude,
The grazing angle of the rising sun has illuminated the buildings perfectly, creating a dreamy view of the skyline of Queensland. You've managed to put the dominant skyscraper at just the perfect position, about 62% form one side (here the right). That just about produces the golden ratio of 1:1.62, known to be the ideal proportion in composition. (It is 9:40 in the morning here in the US East Coast, it must be 11:40 pm late at night — both on Sunday, May 3. It is remarkable that communication can take place almost instantly two points approximately 20,000 km apart on the surface of the globe.)
Warm regards,
Bulent
