Photographer’s Note

So finally the day ot the meeting came. I left Bologna early in the morning and went first to Ferrara. It is also a nice and interesting city (I will post some photos later). Then I had still time to go to Venice for the first walk. I wanted to go by vaporetto through Canale Grande and to see all the palaces. I took the right number but the wrong direction. So, it took me the other way - to Giudecca and San Giorgio. At first I was angry, as it was not what I expected , but finally it was OK. I had the opportunity to make some photos from different POVs. From San Marco I went to Santa Lucia, then by train to Treviso and our beautiful time of the meeting began...

First glimpse of Piazza San Marco in late afternoon (or early evening..). Classic shot.

Czesc Malgosiu,
Before the meeting Malgoska zwiedzila wszystko, co bylo do zwiedzenia chyba;) Bardzo ladna kompozycja z woda na PP i fantastyczna, oraz ciekawa architektura. Brakuje jeszcze zablakanej, samotnej chmurki na niebie... Ladne kolory i swiatelko.

Hi Malgorzata,
A very well balanced composition, every element in its right place... But not only that, the colours are fully saturated and this is really a very attractive photo. The weather must have been better here than on the Ligurian coast.

Czesc Malgorzata! Tyle razy juz fotografowano te obiekty i co z tego, niby wszystkie te fotografie do siebie podobne, ale kazde jest inne jednal. To na przyklad jest inne, bo Twoje. Klaniam sie!

Lindo ponto de visão sobre esta zona de Veneza , os edifícios são magníficos de uma bela arquitectura , Veneza é um lugar bem romântico , gostei muito da luz bem suave ,bom enquadramento da foto ,parabéns!!

stupenda immagine di Venezia, sembra un dipinto del Canaletto (Giovanni Antonio Canal) per il POV e per la perfezione dei dettagli. Questa è una delle più belle foto del meeting, complimenti!

Hi Malgorzata,

I've quoted Heisenberg many times (I think it was Heisenberg, I am not certain), when he said, "Never underestimate how much pleasure it gives a man to see/hear what he already knows." This is a familiar sight for me, but usually from a much higher vantage point. I've sailed in and out of Venice, at least a dozen times, and even though it means getting up at 4:00 or 5:00 am, I can never resist it. Your image is of superb quality, in composition and in light management. I have not been to Ferrara (that is where the notorious Savonarola hailed from, and there is a very good statue of him there. The photo editor of National Geographic Books used the image of the statue in my new book, Leonardo's Universe. Did you get a chance to see the statue, seen here, and here, and here?

This is perfect POV of Italy and Venice!

Worth all the trouble. This is a fine presentation of a wonderfu POV and architecture. Just the right color saturation and light to give the scenery its beauty.

This is a nice shot of this often photographed scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The blue sky compliments the sea nicely framing the city well.
