Photographer’s Note

Yesterday I showed you the entrance of an old quarry in Siebengebirge, a low mountain range on the right bank of Rhine river - south of Bonn. Please read more about it in my note to the linked photo.

This is one of the wonderful and very comfy roadhouses there which only are accessible afoot - the "Löwenburger Hof", built in 1910. As you can see it is situated under the impressive ruin of Löwenburg (~ Lion's Castle) which is situated about 400 metres above Rhine river - 110 metres above the restaurant. The view from up there really is breathtaking. This castle was built in 12th century.

In the map view left hand I put the marker on this roadhouse. You can see the castle's ruin a bit south-west of it .

More about this really worth-visiting place you can read and see here (in German - with a lot of interersting links). In German we call a restaurant like this - situated in the forest, only accessible afoot, often with a beer garden ... - "Ausflugslokal". It's interesting that I couldn't find an English word for this kind of restaurant.

In workshop you can see a closer view of this restaurant with a wonderful beergarden in front of it.
