500th on TE- Evil's trojan horse Photo

Photographer’s Note

INTRO:
This is no artist picture...it's a documentary one that - in my honest and poor opinion - let us know something more about a place.....therefore it fullfills TE's idea of "showing the world through images".

Since the guy on the picture is not what people would say "a nice guy" I decided to add this shot to my theme Don't forget or turn your head! TE is also this! where my other milestones are gathered.

ok..the guy on the picture is Nasrallah, Libanese leader of Hezbollah (the God's party) and his face (along with Hezbollah's logo behind him) was reproduced on a magnet.
A MAGNET?? yes...one of those gadget you usually buy on travel and than put on the kitchen.

just like a popstar...
just like a sport hero....
just like a comic character...a Mickey Mouse
just like an holy image taken from some sanctuary.

THAT'S WHY I TITLED THIS SHOT "EVIL'S TROJAN HORSE".

I didn't like to see that...I didn't like because I was so happy to discover Syria like a pleasant place, to know lots of pleasant people and I was happy to see that this country was far away from being "a terrorist country"...as the texas ranger (the one who left in November) used to say.

Nothing against Syrian People....but this is a subtile Goebbels-like propaganda.
This man spreads hate in his country....and such a gadget turns him into a familiar funny character....a reliable image to look at with sympathy, with a smile.

there's plenty of evil's trojan horses...that always look different...but they are aiming at the same destructive goal!

some examples???

.....we painted the failed Painter from Branau to be a good medicine against Weimar Republic chaos...and you know what we got.

...we have being painting the URSS like the Messenger of equality, the bright knight rescuing the masses of desperates....and you know what the wonderful achievements of Real Socialism.....

....we painted America as the land of freedom....but USA has made some b...hits as well....

....this magnet paints this man like a friendly smiling person....like an old uncle ....although he's guiding a "state into a state" and he's getting fiancial support from another nice guy (who talked this week in Geneva and is expceted to use planing to use nuclear weapons against another country as soon as he gets them)

don't you think this is quite frightening?

ogni traguardo una foto che ci fa pensare molto, questa in particolare!!! mi sembra assurdo che possano ancora accadere queste cose e che ci sia gente che li segua, si potrebbe scrivere un fiume di parole ma e' meglio che mi fermo qui.

tu t'es investi serieusement dans le sujet et ca vaut la peine de rester avec toi quelques bons moments.

Le bon moment de te feliciter et remercier tes 500 generosites. Ton activite sur TE a deja une longue barbe. Avec toi on apprends les choses et on reflechis.

Ciao Silvio, divido il mio intervento in tre tempi.

Primo tempo: complimenti per quello che hai scritto, da solo basta anche con la foto di un fiore, si può più o meno essere d'accordo ma la sostanza vera è che viviamo in tempi pericolosi e che si è avviata un'altrettanto pericolosa spirale che non condurrà a nulla di buono, è solo questione di tempo se i diretti interessati (i musulmani) continueranno a farsi trascinare dall'odio verso l'occidente con forme sempre più estreme di lotta, e, dall'altra parte, verso chiusure sempre più decise nei loro confronti. Chissà se Obama ce la farà ad iniziare un cambiamento, se non lui gli altri "potenti" proprio non ce li vedo, ma l'America deve fare tanti Mea Culpa...

Secondo tempo: pur condividendo il tuo pensiero penso che gli hai fatto un favore, invece di una critica scritta penso sia meglio una foto che mostri la realtà, ma forse a te non hanno permesso di vederla, come turista.

Terzo tempo: ultimo ma non meno importante, complimenti per le 500 foto e auguri per molte altre ancora.

Il lavoro non mi ha dato tregua ultimamente, ma con i tempi che corrono sarei scemo a lamentarmi... Congratulazioni per la tua 500th! Io la soluzione per questi problemi ce l'ho pronta, non e` politicamente corretta ma estremamente efficiente e garantisce sul fatto che non te li ritrovi mai piu` fra i marroni. Hi Silvio,

I would have expect more hostile comments but it isn't so, asside from ashehzad's post. I'm fascinated by the Middle-East conflict of Israel, Palestine and Lebanon. Is Hezbollah the only one? I wouldn't be surprised by the existence of Israeli flag magnets or Shimon Peres magnets.
