Syntagma Metro Station
----------------------

I. About the shot

Returning from our walk with Stelios the last place we had to go was the Metro Station in Syntagma. Various shots from various angles were burst because of the low light, but in a hurry because we had to go to Photovision 2009 exhibition that day.

II. Information

The Athens Metro is the underground public transport system of Athens, Greece, constructed by the Attiko Metro company (Αττικό Μετρό, literally 'Attican metro') and the ISAP (Ilektrikoi Sidirodromoi Athinon-Pireos) company (Ηλεκτρικοί Σιδηρόδρομοι Αθηνών-Πειραιώς "Athens - Piraeus Electric Railways"). Many ancient buildings, ruins and artifacts were discovered during the excavation works for several city centre stations: most were carefully restored and are displayed within the stations, making the Metro system a daily museum tour of the city's illustrious heritage .
The Syntagma station of Attiko Metro is located at Syntagma Square in the center of Athens, Greece. It serves as a transfer point to the Blue Line (Line 3) with the Red Line (Line 2). It also serves as a connection point to the Athens Tram. When the Metro first opened, the station was the terminal station for both the new lines.

Several of the architecture works were erected by Thodoros Papadimitriou, a famous sculptor.

P.S. I want to tell you all how grateful I am for your comments. TE Policy does not permit "excessive thank you replies", so I have to thank you all once and in the description. I wish I could thank you everyone in person.
