Photographer’s Note

Just a kid, a simple scene in the yellow spring field, in this little park near my house, where I love to go and sit or lie in the grass, with a book and now, more with a camera:-). I wonder if to her it seems much bigger than it is, as things seemed to me when I was small...

My first experiments with the 85mm, getting adapted to it,so the girl is not a 100% sharp I know, but I chose to post it like this, actually I even think I prefer it, because to me it adds to the softness and feeling of movement.

Tenbosch (or Tenbos, meaning in the bush) is a public park; formerly a privately-owned dendrological garden called Semet after its owner, a botanist.

Although relatively small (3 ha) this park is exquisitely landscaped and very popular among local residents. It is surrounded by a wall and offers an unexpected oasis of calm in a busy district.

A monument commemorating the Armenian genocide stands at its entrance. Within a short walking distance of 10 mn you are in shopping area of Avenue Louise, the Ixelles Ponds, the Abbey of La Cambre, thus alternating between nature and busy city streets.

Hi Michele,

I can see you are fond of the green tones. Though the subject is not sharp (deliberately, I assume), there is fine detail in the colours ans texture of her hair and dress, and the flush of her cheeks. Beautiful light, and whatever may have been done in PP. Or not.

Your image brings us light, so does the spring. And the growing feeling everywhere... as this beautiful girl.

The yellow-gold color of this capture is wonderful and the little girl is well placed welcoming us to Spring!
It's soft and delicate so it's eye-pleasing and enjoying to look at!
The frame is adequate.

oh this is just fab michele, not "just a kid photo" for sure... the light on her hairs, her eyes (okay one eye) and the green / yellow world surrounding her is awesome... a piece of art this is dear...

This is a very charming photo. I am glad that you posted this photo the way it is; I agree that the focus adds softness. The yellow has saturated the photo and seeped into everything. I think it looks wonderful. Great job,

there's something very Gothic here, but don't ask me to elaborate, I wouldn't be able to verbalise this feeling :) in any case, I like the shot a lot, like a fleeting moment, a dream (the usual association with our photos), but very lively. bold colours, unusual framing, buttons on her dress :) - all that create a captivating image.
and it's funny how I don't really think in terms of "sharp", "in focus" and other technicalities when it comes to photos like this, for some reason it doesn't feel important.

Come ogni artista che si rispetti, stai sperimentando nuovi generi e nuove visioni. Sei sempre la stessa persona ma ora con altre sensibilità, sei più intimista, azzardo "triste"?.
Io sono un fan della Merline che scattava fino a 5/6 mesi fa, poi qualcosa è cambiato.
Ma ci sono cicli diversi nella vita, e la gioiosa, vitale, colorata, allegra e spiritosa Merlne tornerà, sicuramente.

Hi Michelle..indeed the initial phase of experiment is on..i had read reviews of this lens being the perfect studio lens..but to go for 1.8 with that fixed fl must have cost you alot..fast midlength telephoto..an exciting combo...i am honestly looking forward to what this one can produce outdoors :)

Those colors of yours are very personal and very intense. One has to look at it carefully and with time and let it flow slowly into the mind. But it's beautiful. A great shot.

Superb work. For me, it has a haunting, obsessive feel. You sneaked up on her really close with your camera. And what I really like is her sideways gaze, looks like she's just got the hunch you're behind her, right at that moment. And love the saturated yellow and greens.

spring? maybe. but somewhere else. on the border between real and imaginary. in no man's land.

Une photo très spéciale avec une gestion de la couleur qui mérite que l'on s'y arrête. Les émotions sont parfois mieux transmises par des dominantes que par des couleurs fidèles.

What so special about this photo ?

Well... Mostly everything is very special in there...

As long as it doesn't resemble the myriads of kid photos on ANY website - it's OK with me and it's worthy of every possible praises.
