Photographer’s Note
Globen (The Globe) is the nickname for Stockholm Globe Arena - since February 2009 officially named Ericsson Globe (no, not the soccer coach; the telecommunications company got the naming rights) - which currently is the world's largest hemispherical building.
It's shaped like a large golf ball with a diameter of 110 meters (361 feet) and an inner height of 85 meters (279 feet). Construction time was two years and it was inaugurated in February 1989. At a scale of 1:20 million it represents the Sun in the world's largest model of our planetary system - Sweden Solar System.
The Globe is primarily used for ice hockey and was built to meet the demands of the World Championships held in Sweden in 1989, but it's also used for other sports as well as musical performances.
In 2000 both the Eurovision Song Contest and the MTV Europe Music Awards were held here. Pope John Paul II precided a mass in 1989 and notable appearances include Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela.
This night saw Bob Dylan performing on stage!

Hello Kaj,
this is one of the most unusual views of Globen I have ever seen! I like the contrast: red and dark-greenish tint, and the street lamps. The red colour of the dome looks "overheated", so I also like the title to the photo :)
I was inside Globen only once - in 2002, at the concert "Abba The Tribute" - 30 years...
Warm greetings from Moscow,
Elena
