Photographer’s Note
Taken on the same evening as my last three submissions of the sunset over the Rawtenstall Valley over the Easter Weekend.
This time, rather than purely focusing on the scenery, I wanted to include some of the row of houses and use those and the garden wall to lead you in towards the sunset in the background.
I felt this was an obvious HDR candidate so took six bracketed shots, three exposing the sky and then three on the foreground. This is the result of combining two of the foreground shots and one of the sky.
I usually like to make HDR shots look vaguely realistic, but in this case I really liked the HDR effect so I've left it fairly obvious.
I'm really interested in your opinions on this one, so let me know what you think!
Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,
I think this looks fabulous. The light of the sky reflecting off the windows and table along with the industrial lights on the left really bring the two parts together. It's cool to see this urban landscape. Really good idea buddy and the HDR is expertly done. I think this is far and away the best of the Rawtenstall series.
Cheers!

Great composition. It's very easy to either overlook or dismiss what is literally in your backyard. The colours are wonderful too. The reflected sunset in the windows has prevented the right hand side being too dark and blocky.
I have to admit that I'm not a fan of obvious HDR effect, but I don't think this has strayed too far down that route.

Hi Simon,
Nice house. Nice bench. Oh, HDR opinions?
Well, you know I love HDR now right? The scene we are looking at here isprobably how your eyes saw it, but the camera is unable to capture this in a single image (though in this light it would not be far off). I am totally hooked now and I think you have done a great job here. I think the difficult part is in deciding which exposures to use in PP. You have done great here though. Love it.

Hi Simon, you're very lucky to have such a vista on your back doorstep! Although you say the HDR was left obvious, it's very effective and has enabled you to capture somne great details in such low lighting conditions. Nice one.
cheers
