A Smile and a Machette Photo

Photographer’s Note

I met this woman in a village in Karawang, West Java.

She had just given her vote in the general election in April 2009. Like many other voters, she hardly know any of the would-be legislators who would represent her village.

But life must go on. After voting, she continued her job to slaughter the chickens.
