Photographer’s Note

A shot of the Mecca mosque at Charminar during our recent photo visit. After the bomb blasts they have banned cameras inside the mosque. So we could only get this view from the top of the Charminar.

Mecca Masjid is one of the oldest mosques and the biggest mosque located in Hyderabad, India. The mosque is believed to contain sacred relics, one of which is a hair of the Prophet Muhammad. Part of the mosque has bricks brought from holy city of Mecca which are part of the central arch. The mosque is adorned with Belgian crystal chandeliers.

It is located close to the historic landmarks such as Charminar, Chowmahalla Palace and Laad Bazaar.
