Photographer’s Note
In 964 the Ghent Saint Peters abbey received from the Count of Flanders large parts (1400 ha) of the grounds in present day city Waregem. They erected an important farmhouse in a bend of the river Leie (Lys) in the village Desselgem which had been inhabited since Frankish times and used the site as their official stronghold in the area. The name changed to "Munckenhof" (= monks farm). Although not in function anymore, the buildings still impress by their size.
This beautifull spring day gave me the occasion to test my new D300 :-) just close to where I live. Suffice to say I'm not living in a very beautifull region, but even you can find some nice spots...
