Photographer’s Note

The Preah Thineang Chan Chhaya ("Moonlight Pavilion"), is an open-air pavilion that serves as stage for Khmer classical dance in the past and present. It is one of the most notable buildings of the palace as it easily seen from the outside as it was built alongside a section of the palace walls. The Chan Chhaya Pavilion has a balcony that was used as a platform for viewing parades marching along Sothearos Boulevard of Phnom Penh.

I was lucky, as the monument was illuminated which seems to be on rare occasions.

Je ne connaissais meme pas le nom de ce pavillon. Très bee image avec les couleurs de l'heure bleue. Je n'ai jamais pensé à le photographier de nuit.

Un magnifique édifice dont les beaux éclairages dorés ressortent très bien dans cette "heure bleue". Angle de vue bien choisi et qui met en valeur le bâtiment.

C'est sur qu'un batiment pareil quand c'est eclaire ca fait un sujet de blue hour de premiere classe, jolie image etoilee avec un temps de pose quand meme assez court, t'as raison d'aller te refugier au Cambodge, bien plus calme que la Thailande ces temps

I have seen this one on your laptop with french keypad :)

Very beautiful lighted version of this night scene showing such a well timed capture of the bright outline of this fine architecture even some good reflection on the tiled floor [I noticed they have sweepers daily to clean the public tourism places] and with a blue hour sky.

I should have arrived 1 day earlier to see this! When we arrived next day, it was no longer lighted :(

Comme tu le sais, en 7 fois a PP, c'est seulement la 2 eme fois que je le voyais illumine...et c donne bien, surtout a l heure bleue... le sol qui reflète est aussi super photogénique...

Also lucky with the wet streeets i think....after a rainshower?
The wet street is lighten up by the street lantarns and the lights on the temple gave you something extra in here with wonderful contrast in red/brown against that blue sky....those 2 sec worked very well.

there are two features that make this shot a lot attractive IMO: the excellent exposure management and the natural white balance. Love the contrast between the cool sky and the warm (and beautiful) arquitecture as well. Great work!

Une "heure bleue" très, très belle. Je crois qu'il est rare que le PdV en biais soit la meilleur option pou ce genre de photo, mais je l'aime beaucoup ici. Les couleurs sont fabuleuses, le bleue du ciel fait un joli contraste avec les rouges en bas. Les effets de la lumière et les reflets sur le sol sont fascinantes; on dirait que le sol est inondé.

This is what I have been waiting for from you since you mentioned it while we were in Phnom Penh. Now I have seen how spectacular it is, I will have to reconsider if it is worth posting mine..:-))) Your timing of the blue hour is excellent, as the cloud is still visible while having the blue sky. It is also amazing to see some of the lights reflected on the FG water, no it is not water but pavement! Truly a masterpiece, Marilyn.

This is a very nice one Marylin. I love it, esp. the colors. You are lucky to be there on the day that they light the palace. They dont usually do that in a regular day. It shows an evening daily life of Phnom Penh people. Very nice. Sothy

Je m'imagine avec ma dulcinée en bateau pour une croisière romantique; j'apprécie toujours ces photos à l'heure bleue, l'exposition est bien ajustée mais il est possible d'ajuster la balance des blancs pour obtenir moins de rouge.

L'heure bleue pour mettre en valeur ce "Moonlight Pavilion" est bien choisie. J'aime le graphisme souligné par les lumières. Les reflets cuivrés du sol font un bon premier plan.

Good shot under the blue hour sky. The artificial light creates good contrast & I also like the reflection on the wet surface. The twinkle effect of the lights thanks to the aperture adds to the picture. Well done!
