Photographer’s Note

In the late afternoon, at the end of the main walk of the TE meeting, we took the Vaporetto back to our hotel.

First some relaxing moments on the terrace, before going back to Treviso for the evening lunch.

Just before I left the terrace, the light became special, so I made some pictures of the Campanile and entrance of the Canale Grande.

superbe lumière. j'aime bien l'atmosphère de la ville qui ressort quasiment en silhouette sur le ciel. un bel équilibre dans le choix du format vertical. Bravo.

Bonjour Didier,

Je trouve le premier plan, qui occupe tout le bas de l'image, un peu sombre, mais la partie supérieure est vraiment de toute beauté. Cette lumière est extraordinaire et tu l'as très bien capturée. De plus, la composition est au top avec le clocher très bien placé sur la droite.

Une atmosphère un peu étrange mais très intéressante. Ce soleil qui tente de percer les nuages donne des couleurs particulières très originales. J'aime le choix de cadrage vertical laissant la plus large part au ciel mais permettant de reconnaitre facilement la silhouette des bâtiments de Venise.

Good morning Didier,

It works on the mood, but i miss some light in the lower section, some twinkles would already been good enough, now it's all dark, but that was probaby what you were after i think. It's also very difficult to control this light without over-exposure, so from that pov it's a very good balanced shot.

I´m going along with Henk...beautiful mood but a bit too dark for my taste. And maybe a shorter focal lenght would add to the overall impression (20mm?).
Anyway nice to see a moment I missed during this weekend :)

Hello Didier,

Une vue à la lumière minimaliste un peu sous exposée mais assez sympa.
Le soleil émergeant des nuages donne à la photo un petit air de peinture.

le ciel est magnifique,j'aime le soleil qui perce à travers les nuages en leur donnant une très belle luminosité,et j'aime la diffraction de ses rayons!Je trouve par contre le bas de la photo un peu sombre,j'ai lu la réponse donnée à Henk,et je comprend!Peut-être aurais tu pu cadrer différemment,en laissant apparaître un peu moins de ville et un peu plus de ciel,pour avoir une masse sombre moins importante!Ce n'est qu'une suggestion,je n'aurais sans doute pas fait mieux!N'empêche que le ciel est splendide!

Wonderful shot with the sunrays coming through the clouds. I like the lighting here very much, just enough to show some of the city. Beautiful POV with wonderful details and great light! Great work!

tolles Licht, wirklich schön! Toller Himmel, vielleicht ist der Vordergrund etwas zu dunkel, aber die Sonnenstrahlen, die hinter den Wolken hervorkommen sind einfach klasse, es zieht das Auge förmlich dahin, schön!

J'aime beaucoup ce contre jour bien maîtrisé, avec les rayons du soleil qui percent les nuages et viennent éclairer Venise. Le cadrage vertical donne beaucoup de majesté à la composition. Très beau travail !

Hello Dideir,

A first rate image of the Campanille and the magical coastline of Venice. I remember having drinks on the terrace of the Gabrielle with a similar view. You were fortunate to attend the historic TE meeting organized by Paolo and Renzo in the most photogenic city on earth.

Une jolie vue qui me rappelle un excellent moment de détente, sur la terrasse de l'hôtel!
D'ailleurs, je crois que tu en as fait quelques-unes avec mon appareil aussi... mais je ne sais pas lesquelles ^^
Je ne trouve pas l'avant-plan trop sombre, mais je suis peut-être influencée par la position de mon portable, tant mieux :-)
C'était une super sortie!

I like the mood of this capture, something that most of us will regard as poor lighting condition and not good for phtography, but you have shown your style here of making the best of the dim light and gloomy sky to show the special effect of the sunlight beam.

In fact, the vertical composition is very well chosen for this presentation. Good work.
