Photographer’s Note
A fine specimen of young Red Deer stag taken early morning on the slopes above Dalness. Gloomy wet weather.
Not as mature as his blurry companion in the background but striking an assertive pose just the same. The wilder ones tend to run away if you get too close, but not him, probably showing off. I did the retreating.
Rain had just melted away the previous day's snow, which had accompanied the clock's adjustment to summer time...

Hi Dougie
great picture of this deer. Colors of the end of winter are great. Well done.

Hi Dougie.
Very good wildlife shot, with the animals set in the right frame orientation. Good use of shallow dof, with the main deer being superbly sharp and looking so majestic in that stance. I wonder what your focal length was, but I doubt if you'd have managed to get 1/30 with a really long lens in the early morning. Anyway, very pleasing picture, as usual.

Hi Dougie,
I really like this shot, especially your use of a wide aperature to reduce the depth of field and the way you can see the blurry outlines of more deer in the background. I wondered what this would look like in B&W, so I had a go at a workshop for you. Hope you don't mind!
Cheers
Simon
