Photographer’s Note
The Kechak Dance is a form of Balinese music drama. The drama is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana where the monkey army helps Prince Rama fight the evil Ravana. This art form was developed in the 1930s by a German artist who lived in Bali and is based on a trance-inducing exorcism dance. This was a regular evening performance at the Uluwatu temple in Bali.
