Photographer’s Note

Reflection on icey water are even sharper than on ice or water I noticed.
It was a delicious sunny winterday.
This is a view from the Sarphatistraat over the Amstel towards the center and you can see the 'sluisjes', Theater Carré on the right wit a great reflection andf in the distance the tower of the Zuiderkerk en the modern complex of the city hall and the opera.

Hello Gerrit,
Sparkling light and colours for this fine composition. Good long perspective down the canal, which presents some very nice reflections. Good sharpness allows us to appreciate the least detail.

Nice composition here using the canal to lead the eye into the scene. The reflection on the icy water is great giving the shot good depth and balance. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Hoi Gerrit,

Licht, dat is alles en dat lat je hier zeer fraai zien. Zonder dat licht een zozo foto, nu zeer sterk overkomend in een prachtig spel tussen kleur en contrast, maar bovenal warmte....zeer fraai.

Nogmaals het bewijs dat men tijdens de winter ook zeer mooie foto kan maken.
De kleuren zijn prachtig en samenstelling met de boten links en een vrije ruimte rechts, die ons zo meeneemt naar achteren voor het mooie stadszicht.

Difficile de se croire en plein mois de janvier. Le soleil brille d'une façon insolente pour une période hivernale, tant mieux, les détails, les couleurs ne ressortent que mieux.
Très belle prise de vue en perspective.
Une composition très bien pensée comme à l'accoutumée.

Indeed the texture, or the absence of it, of that water is intriguing and produces a wonderful effect. The POV was very well chosen, giving a really pleasant compo with that great light whose warm tones contradict the low temperature that must have been.

couleurs très chaudes pour cette prise typique des Pays-Bas. Des reflets qui livrent le rendu de ces teintes fortes.
Tu avais là de trsè belles conditions de lumières pour bien réussir cette prise au demeurant bien cadrée.

Cadrage soigné et très bonne lumière pour ce cliché,le dégradé du ciel met bien en valeur la ligne centrale et les architectures.Le premier plan avec les péniches apporte également beaucoup à cette composition.

Dag, Gerrit. Mooi plaatje ut Amsterdam. Een mooi ochtendlicht en mooie kleuren die de reflecties zeer interessant maken. Het perspectief is ook heel goed dankzij de huizen aan beide kanten van de Amstel. De boten op de voorgrond geven een goede diepte aan het beeld.
