TE meeting on little planet named Venice Photo

Photographer’s Note

It still feels like a dream captured in small bubble...
I expected to meet just a few members and what a surprise when i found out how many of you attended this meeting. I had no idea...
It was an awakening call, sort of..., when I realised how much i miss this little hobby of mine.
I must say it was a strange experience.... I went to meet some people i've never seen before but when we met it felt like being among friends. Thank you for this goes specially to Chris (and his delicious lunch :), Malgorzata, Michal and Aga (mostly for yours priceless expression haha :DDD), Paolo and Renzo (for finding 2 additional sits for us at the dinner) and most of all Diane for letting me know about this meeting. Without her I would miss everything.

I wish I had some better material to post for this occassion but a promise is a promise... :)
I've chosen this image cause it feels like a portal to a wonderful day and place of TE meeting in Venice 2009.

Sadly shadow has been cast over this beautiful experience by recent events in L'Aquila.
I would like to express my solidarity to all in these sad in hard moments.

Hi Jeri,
this is excellent photo work and once again we can see a place captured through the eyes of the architect. What I like here are the colors (Italian of course) and the structures. And funnily enough there are two trekkers trying all their efforts. THis is a delightful composition. TFS!

Hi Jeri,

Superb image! Funny and nice for the eye at the same time. The colors are great.
Nice contrast between a sober structure and color of the wall with the fully colored fish-eye effect in the mirror.
The composition with the shadow makes it complete!

Hi Jeri,
yes a small planet, with much light and warm colours, but the shadow is rising already behind it....
maybe your simple but fine composition is a symbol for this weekend..

I am really happy if this meeting was a small recreation for you.
It was so great to meet you even if the communication is sometimes difficult with the problems of the language(for me)!
Which magnificent planet you show us, it deserves that we stop there some moments in our short life. All the lines meet, sometimes a little deformed but with a very sweet unity.

I quite like the idea of capturing dreams in a bubble, then you can let them out when you need a little fairy tale moment. and your bubble here is just perfect, everything that defines Venice - water, colours, elaborate bridges - are right there. nice one, and I'm looking forward to more posts from the meeting.

I know exactly how you feel about the TE groups. The friendship seems to just continue over from the critiques to the gallery in to reality and meeting face to face to be able to see the expressions in person. Not sure about this mirror reflection's meaning but it is a fine composition on the wall.

Can I just term it as CIRCLE OF TE FRIENDS?

So you're back? really? I realized with the few meetings I attended that it's really not a time to shoot pictures. You have fun, you have your camera out all of the time, but you come back home, and check your pics:you have either no picture, or no valuable picture...But it's all worth the trip!

This is an interesting idea! Reading the critiques below, you see that people see it in many different ways, that's cool! I like the texture in the deep shades...I think it's my fave part of the pic:) the rest is Venice and we already saw it many times! This is like an intimate view of the relatioship between the light and the wall, very interesting.

is that you with the striped shirt?

all are quite like in your mind view, then
strangely reflected image in the eye of imagination,

Hello Jeri,

I was jealous of all the TE members who could participate in the meeting organized by Paolo and Renzo in Venice, that surpassingly photogenic. Your photograph is imaginative — abstract and surrealistic at the same time. The contrasts of light and shadows, of brilliant colors and monochromatic areas, of rough textures of polished surfaces (the mirror) — all collaborate like the musical instruments of a fine orchestra. I love this masterpiece of an image!

But I am still jealous of the members who made it to Venice for the meeting.

i like your idea of using a single element like this but tells us a lot where it was taken as it reflects the iconic symbol of the place Venice... you got the eye, nurture that. just run out of greens but couldn't resist to critique this one.

An excellent photo! I love to see this little part of Venice slightly distorted in the reflection of the mirror. The white wall is a great background along with the shadow of the mirror. It makes the colours stand out even better. Thanks for sharing!
