Kirgiz woman Photo

Photographer’s Note

Qoltumak is a very small nomad place in de Karakol-area in Xinjiang. It only excist of some yourts where Kirgiz nomads live. The altitude is 4100 meters, just before Muztagh Ata Basecamp on 4500 meters.
Here I stayed overnight to walk the next day to the basecamp.
The woman who fixed our dinner was a nice and curious lady, who bend over me to look at my camera when I was sitting in the sun ........

Reggy,
this is very interesting!! So, you were sitting and this nomad came up and looked at you this way? how did it make you feel?
I like the poetic (excuse the pun) juxtaposition of the nomad (which for me represents freedom in a way) and of the sky.
I'm surprised at how good the exposure is all through the picture! The natural light on her is amazing and I would have expected the sky to be completely bleached...but it's not the case, so good job!!

Een heel mooi portret, in profiel tegen de zachtblauwe en grijze achtergrond. Mooi geplaatst en natuurlijke heldere kleuren.
Maar hoe jammer dat de handen er net niet volledig bij zijn ?

Vreemd om al die foto's voorbij te zien komen, ik herken ze allemaal ;-)
Deze is vooral sterk op de manier waarop je hier het standpunt hebt gekozen, al zittend komt de dame even neuzen. Maar mede hier is die lucht die aan de diepte en contrast bijdraagd waardoor zij er als het ware ingezet word...heel mooi.

Heel mooi. OK, die handen zijn er maar half, maar wat een gezicht, wat een blik - daar waar het écht telt is de foto perfect.

she has a strange expression,as she was not very happy that you take her in photo,or maybe she is just surprised,but her white scarf and collar iluminate her face!The luminosity is superb,well enhanced by this beautiful cloud sky as background!First, I thought that a vertical framing would have been maybe better,but this larger framing can represent the large and wild world in which this people lives!Anyway,this is superb!

It's years since I was in this part of China, but what strikes me now (and then) is such proudness those people express comming from chines dominated areas to this is a huge difference.
and it is indeed a very good portrait of this woman.

I very much like your POV with the vast sky making an extemely beautiful background, the light and exposure is perfect throughout, my only nitpix would be her hands. I would love to see them as i feel that they way she holds her hands expresses her entire body language.

I like this setting in front of sky and clouds only. She is so sharp it gives so much volume behind. Great work.
