Photographer’s Note
India is a Land of Faith. Why? On this big earth, there would be thousands of glaciers which melt and flows down as Rivers. But, it’s only in India that a river can be considered as Holy Mother and worshipped. What you see here is a glimpse of the evening prayer by hundreds of devotees at Haridwar, by way of ‘Aarti’ – Singing Praises of the Holy Mother by glorifying her with decorative fire lamps.
See the three high priest holding holy lamps. The colors of fire reflecting on the flowing river and the color of lights. (The blue colour is the one of the many flashes of numerous compact cameras that gave this interesting contrast).
This scene always captivates me. To add to this fascinating daily event is the background music played by little shops - “ Mano toh Main Ganga Maa Hoon, Na Mano toh Behta Pani” – (If you Believe, I am your Mother Ganga. If you Don’t, I am just a flowing river).
Folks, Faith Rules Every Land.
Cheers,
Satyakki

Long live India, long live the faith...
Simply great. I liked the golden-bronze color of the fire and its reflection in water with the same reflection on the faces of the devotees.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Satyakki,
Being a Pisces, I am always attracted to water images, especially lighting and mirror reflections. Your image captures the spirit and imagery of water and fire and light.
Good job,

Hi Satyaki, nice glowing image of aarti at the Ganga river and I liked you zeel to experiment with new and difficult subjects.
However I feel the composition is very tight. The small amount of water lacks teh wastness of the Ganga river, otherwise you could have included the people on the right a bit more.
