Photographer’s Note
Every once in a while I find it quite inspiring to travel on my own although when I saw this group I was not sure either :))) Actually my visit to Paris was a small business trip, a little bit of work, a dinner with my boss and a museum visit the day after (Maison Européenne de Photographie … merci Christoph for joining me) - and two days just for myself. Heaven. Business hotels are a little crazy if you ask me and when I sat in the entrance hall there was someone jogging through the lobby every other minute or coming back from one hour of hard running. I left my running shoes at home :))) I mean who goes running after a pain chocolat, would you? But I felt a little guilty I must admit. This photo was taken after my boss had flown home and I was left alone in this huge huge city with a metro map in one hand and my travel guide in the other, the camera around my neck and the handbag around my shoulder :)))) Yes heavy … !!! I also bought presents and I got home like I had been away for seven weeks.
This men and women in my picture have a good energy I find and somehow I thought it would be an appropriate spring upload when we all gain new energy after a long winter.
Preparing the shot …

Schoen guten Abend Barbara,

Barbara dear friend...Ahah..nice one..well seen..love the ones where the photographer has to look out for and anticipate the action..you executed this only truely well..maybe the main interest of the composition is too close to the centre lines..but like it anyway

An interesting title Barbara which invited me to open up the thumbnail.
I like your PoV looking down on the group as they have fun creating a memento of their day.
Good contrasting textures which set the scene perfectly.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hallo liebe Barbara!
:-)) Also kein schlechtes Gewissen!

Hi Barbara,
Sounds like a lovely trip; and looks like you brought home some great photos as gifts for your TE friends. The exuberant energy brightens the grays that are nicely balanced between water and cobblestone. I think I might have guessed Paris even without the note.

Guten Morgen liebe Barbara,

I really like the happy energy in this shot. Youve got a great angle on it too from above - so it's all very fresh and exciting to look at.
Great work!

Hi Barbara
A superb high pov, & the 'gang of five' make a good centre of interest, & focal point. Good sharpness & pov. The camera on the tripod in front of them, is a good secondary focal point. Tfs!

Bonjour Barbara,
Yes, this image is full of youthfulness and renew energy. It reminded me of my younger days as well, I felt like being in college again. I remember a group of us 8 to 10 people, we rented a van and go up to San Francisco or anywhere, we just take picture of ourselves in front of whatever, but it didn't really matter, it was more about us than about the place. But that is fine, we are only young once so I'm glade that I had so much fun with them, and now they all have children and life it all about them. I don't or not yet have any, so I travel and see the world while I can. Anyway, about this photo, I like the spirit and the quality is good as usual. I like the workshop as well. Have a good Saturday, you will soon wake up to a wonderful weekend.

Hallo Barbara!

Hi Barbara--A nice contrast here between cold angular stone and warm human interaction. It's nice how the faces make a pleasing curve. Perhaps you could have saturated the color more in the people--they're a bit gray. But their smiles sure shine through! Those people are what make a city a city, not just a collection of stone buildings. Regards, Ken.

Good morning, Barbara.
Another extremely natural looking picture from Paris. Superb as a composition as well as in terms of atmosphere, with those tiny patches of green, red and blue to provide the perfect accents amidst all that Parisian Grey. Love it! Have a wonderful sunday, still misty over here but the sun should break out anytime now. See ya later,
Fulvio.

Hi Barbara, this is another excellent "daily life" shot from you. And very beautiful and youthful subjects too, I might add. I like the composition, the young people to the right of the frame and inclusion of the river so we know what they're doing. It is also superbly sharp. TFS & Have a great WE, Lisa.

This one makes me smile. It's just one of those things you see in a city like Paris.
It makes me want to go again to my most favoutite city.

hi Barbara,
how come these people did not ask you to take their photo? :) I always find it funny and even scary when people see us with our big cameras and immediately decide that they will ask us to take their photos, thinking that we MUST know eveything about photography and about cameras. but usually they have these tiny point-and-shoot things that I have no idea how to switch on, much less take a photo with something the size of a credit card :)) so I usually just run away and leave Kristaps to deal with the scary and small cameras :))
great fun shot, I don't mind the centered composition, I actually like it a lot, the textures of the cobblestones and water are different enough to balance out the composition. nice, very nice :)
regards,
Kristine

Very amusing, I could not imagine what it was about looking at the thumb - well done, framing is great - the image could have been cropped on the right and the bottom but I'm not sure that it would have been better. Compliments, anyway !
Best,
Cath.
