Skyline Gondola Photo

Photographer’s Note

This pictures is taken at the Queenstown Skyline. I was sitting at the bar at the Skyline complex looking out at this beautiful view.

Reputed to be the steepest lift in the Southern Hemisphere, the gondola carries visitors high above Queenstown to the Skyline complex located on Bob's Peak.

There are a number of observation decks around the complex all have breathtaking views. From here you can see Coronet Peak & The Remarkables, over Queenstown and across Lake Wakatipu to Cecil and Walter Peaks.

The complex has a wonderful buffet style restaurant with magnificent views and a great place to wait for the sun to go down and see the lights of Queenstown.

There is also a luge ride, but the views were too good and I didn't get a chance to take a ride, I am told it is a great fun activity to do, young or old.

A very nice landscape, a good and original idea and a vrey impressive view very well balanced. I like too the great prospect and the colours well satured.

Not a bad shot Jude, but you must have a better POV over Queenstown without the Gondola? Love the deep saturated blues and that low flying cloud again.

Hello Jude,

So at last you had some sunny weather when i look at this one. The big fat bold colours work very well here, just as the contrast with the mountain on the right.
Of course i also took the Gondola, but early in the evening to see the lights over the city, did you stay also that long?
I'm almost done here, will start uploading on Monday, hope they are good enough to have some nice comments...

Hi Jude. Your trip to N.Z. has really given your artistic spirit wings. I am enjoying every one of your photos for its beauty and thoughtful composition. what is wrong in including a gondola, especially since it is a feature of the place and in this case it balances the image nicely? A great shot for a difficult subject! You were able to represent nature even in presence of human constructions that sometimes disfigure landscapes and even better you made of it an imoportant part of the experience.

Now this is a postcard shot, beautiful view, great composition and perfect timing on the position of the gondola.
Fair dinkum the NZ government should be paying you money for this shot, it makes me want to go there right now.

Never mind the big bulky dark thing on the right side of the photo, this is a view from the Paradise!:)
How I`d love to be there!...Althouh in New Zealand you are upside-down:)
Well,what can I say? Here we had about 30cm of fresh snow this week and we`re waiting for the Spring to come...

H Jude - this is an impressive shot - nice dramatic scenary (ok so it's NZ, what do you expect) and the shades of blue with that light over the water is lovely.
