Photographer’s Note
Lake County has some gorgeous, big trees, which is one of the reasons it is so beautiful here. This is the root of a mature Cottonwood tree. Being right next to Cache Creek, the tree roots have been exposed by erosion on one side, making for intriguing shapes and textures.
I cropped this image for balance, and sharpened it up a little.

Very interesting textures. Really looks like some fantasy illustration.

Hi Rachel,
I take a glance to your gallery and have seen that your work is bold and you have a creative eye.
I like the simplicity and the strength of this composition, in which you have obtained a good graphism by means of these roots and an a little tilt, in a very dynamic framing. The light and the shades work well.
The result is very interesting.
Best regards,
Josep
