Photographer’s Note
Husband not Alive..!!!
Son not working..!!
Daughter not married..!!!
The rickshaw driver told me these facts about this lady..!!!
I found her in Bishnupur infront of the "Ras mancha" Temple when I went there take photographs of some well known terracotta architecture.
She was sitting there all alone selling handicrafts made out of terracotta and also some books containing pictorial depiction of the intricate designs inside and outside the numerous temples in Bishnupur. She as a trained artisan of the art legacy of terracotta but eventually has landed selling them thru a stall, whose sales according to me has gone from bad to worse after the advent of economical digital cameras..!!!
I guess I was the only one who visited that temple that day..she was constantly looking at me with a hope that I will buy something from her..but very reluctant in approach as she was used to numerous denials ..!! so she just kept sitting there...but she definitely game me some food for thought as to what kind of life is this for such artists and what is the government doing to preserve the art and the artist..apart from creating a garden around the temple and putting lights and also incorporating an entry fees...???????
Do we have an answer..?????

Hello Indranil,
Beyond an excellent portrait, there is your interesting note reporting the fate of this unhappy. You chose a subject interesting, and carried out an expressive portrait, in which one reads the distress, but also a certain energy. The realization is of a great clearness. Congratulations.
Have a nice day

Indranil: a salient portrait, technically superb with classic sharpness and color - but it's the emotional content that catapults this image. best, c

Hi indranil, this is a compact and fabulous capture in the true traditional style. The expressions, the body language and the hues are all finely nuanced and so deftly used to enhance the quality of the overall composition. Nice job indeed. Impressive and fabulous
