Photographer’s Note
A group of Russian visitors (Russians are Christian Ortodox, like Greeks are) admiring the fantastic frescos in the church of Great Meteoron. Those frescoes were painted between 1483 and 1552, most probably by Tzortzis, a great iconographer of the Cretan school.
Great Meteoron, is the greatest, oldest and most important among the monasteries of Meteora. It was established by Athanasios "Meteoritis", a monk who climbed up on the huge rock around 1343-1344.
*I decided not to "fix" the perspective and wide angle distortions, I thought it enchanced the feeling of "convergence".
***Handheld shot

Hi Hercules,
That is a very nice scene.
The group of people composes very well with the surrounding.
They wear oldfashioned clothes and it seems like a photo from the past. They are interestingly focused on the ceiling which is funny and draws our attention up. It is pity that the details of the church are not as sharp as the people.
The architecture looks really unique.
Thanks for sharing,
M

Hi Hercules
You managed to catch a still moment as everyone seems sharp at 1/13th of a second. A good choice to leave the convergence in.

Hej Hercules
great POV, like the skirts all the women are wearing and the way the sort of beaming out from the same center as the construction of the church. It is in all meaning a religius picture.

Kalispera Hercules.

hi Hercules,
I liked the photo a lot...I think it is very editorial..
how come all the women have similar skirts on top of their clothes ? I assume it is a rule of the place and they supply them in the entrance as they do to us in Jerusalem entrance (Muslim Part)...? I assume they also wear headccarves as a rule of the place ? if these are correct, I won't be that angry with Aksa Mosque guards who did not let me in :)..
cheers

helo Hercules
the colours are incredibly beautiful, and I like very much these visitors looking as they were in prayers!I also like the distorsion,as you say, that enhances this impression of height! In spite of you had no ripod, the sharpness is excellent!Superb!

Hello Hercules,
such a richness of colour and detail. Your photo is like the richest silk tapestry.I like you POV and composition with the women all looking up. I like the way you have managed to capture the full length of the women and shown that they wear those skirts given them to wear inside the church.

Bev

Hola Hercules,

Abrazos.

Hi Hercules,
A superb photo.....the very detailed painted ceiling, along with the group of visitors creates an interesting and attractive image of the inner church. I like the fact that the people are engrossed in the view of the surroundings, most looking upwards, but only one woman looking at you. The colours are rich and warm......overall excellent result.
Cheers Grant

Bonsoir, cher Hercules,
Mille mercis, cher Hercules.
Amitiés.
Philippe
