Photographer’s Note
St Patrick celebrated on march 17th is the saint looking after the fate of Ireland, which means billions of pints of Guiness & Co. will be consumed today by everybody feeling even remotely irish. In modern times ST Patrick celebrations range far beyond Ireland's borders and each place feeling vaguely celtic will have some sort of celebration, I have never been to Ireland (yet) but from my stop in this Breton celtic city last summer I came back with this hopefully fitting portait, how did you guess this guy is scottish ??? And for having Scots among my friends I have to say their festive spirit equals the legendary one of the Irish ;-)

Good morning Jean Yves!
Happy St. Paddy to you too and what a nice shot for the occasion. Ok, so this guy is a Scot, but you're right, I know a few of them and they do have a festive spirit.
Don't drink too much green beer, ok? ;-)
Have a great day, my friend!

Hi Jean-Yves,
Goog reminder, even with Scotch bagpiper. Short DoF picks the piper well on the environment where all sharp picture would look messy.
Tampere has quite a few fake Irish pubs and one real. Need to check what's going on here tonight.

Hello Jean-Yves,
Bien vu !
Passe une bonne journée.

Well they have pipers in Ireland too, and I must confess I wouldn't know the difference between the different types of pipes (Shhh! Don't tell your Celtic friends ;D) It is an excellent portrait with a perfectly chosen DOF. I would have worried 2.8 wasn't enough, but it worked out brilliantly.

Hi JY,
every year I forget about St Patrick´s day... shame on me!
Great portrait, no green in it, but he has to be Irish if you say so - he´s Irish by definition.
Have a nice evening,

Quel portait pittoresque!

Hi Jean Yves,
Happy St. Patrick's Day to you as well! It is celebrated in Canada as well, but it's a little early to start drinking (2.00pm)...haha
I like this photo very much, you captured the man very well with his pipes. Oh well, doesn't matter that he's Scottish...I think it suits the theme well. Great photo!

Bonsoir Jean-Yves,
Amicalement,
Olivier

Tu l'as eu plein cadre ce piper!!

Philippe

Hi Jean Yves,
Considering the enormous effort it takes to bring some sound out of a bagpipe, this guy looks quite comfortable. This is a very good portrait and he must be very pround to be here on TE!
Kind regards

Hello Jean Yves,
good capture of the festive mood,
I like the clarity and the natural colors, the blur background gives a 3D effect,
I saw pictures of the St.Patrick's day with green painted water in fountains, lakes and rivers,
Thanks for sharing,
Dimitris.

Hi JY,
very good quality on this daily life shot. I'm impressed by the sharpness (focus on the musician) and the well chosen dof. Tight framing also helps a lot to make this a well seen. Great job!

Excellent POV and DOF to isolate the lone piper although he is probably part of a larger group.

Hello JY
Still getting over the celebrations here in Auckland. Was just as big over this way like Dublin or London. I like the Celtic feel here, the detail and freezing of the shot is first rate. Light is equally superb.
