Photographer’s Note
This was seen on the side of an old, but not abandoned anymore gas station last weekend in Southern Illinois. Good thing I happened by in the winter - the vines will have big, green leaves on them in the spring and summer, so the sign would not have been visible. I really liked how the weathering of the sign sort of matches the weathering of the galvanized metal siding - the colors almost blend together with the exception of the white border.
This sign kind of epitomizes the year we are having so far, too. It might be a Good Year for tires, but this year is already wearing me out!
I thought this building was one of those abandoned ones, but walking around the front of it I noticed that someone had put a fresh, bright coat of paint on the inside. Perhaps one day it will be an antique store or more likely a Subway Sandwich restaurant.
I took a couple shots of this building, here's another I posted a couple days ago on TrekLens.
Have a great day today - I've managed to dredge up another few blues show images, so I'll be having Blue Monday again tomorrow.

Hi Reed,
'An old, but not abandoned anymore gas station'... That surely is a sentence that got me thinking. Who came back there? Why?
I'm not even sure it's a good year for tires.... People will cut down on car use, due to fuel consumption and with that they will not wear out that much tires ;-).
Interesting place you found here. And I'm also wondering about the fresh paint on the inside....
Greetings! Dennis

I like the rusty worn out look of it very much. Together with the vines hanging over it sure says a good year has passed by a long time ago.

Creative picture Reed. I wonder how many of us would walk on by, not spotting the potential. I find this genre of photography very difficult. I just don't see such shots, but admire them from others. The whole presentation is good with your matching title making the image whole.
