Aardappel Bovist Photo

Photographer’s Note

Yesterday at my strolls in the bunch I saw this mushroom "Aardappel Bovist". This mushrooms of approximately 10 cm large, these lay beautiful between the autumn leaf.
I have photographed these without at coming lighting.
I have this picture made in macro.

This picture I have cropped to a better composition.

Good macro composition & excellent cropping /framing. Perhaps too much red & tellow? But still a great shot with precision sharpness. Well done!

Hi John, a nice shot that shows a great level of detail and nice colors. I don't know what Bovist ist, but I believe Aardappel (Erdapfel in Alsatian) refers to the potato like shape of this mushroom.

An interesting macro shot, John. Excellent detail. I like the rich red background colours, as if they were caused by the glow of a campfire. Well seen and framed.

Les champignons ressemblent aux péchés : pour les déguster, il faut prendre des risques !
N'étant pas mycologue, je ne souhaite pas goûter à un tel champignon, je me contente d'admirer sa beauté.
Très bonne macrophotographie John.
Est-il comestible ?

O-Vl zet hier weer mooi materiaal neer hé John, ik hou vandie diepe complementaire kleuren in een strak sober diagonaal compo, alle aandacht voor de textuur, je hebt truuk al om het onderwerp scherp te houden door in 1 vlak te brengen. Goed zo John.

What an interesting mushroom. I know nothing about them (except that they are delicious in Italian restaurants), but this one does look like a potato. And I know enough Dutch to know that that is the name of it. Thanks John.

On dirait par similitude une "vesse de loup"; very mycologic colors, good composition.

Ja John dit is een moeilijke.
Je hebt hem heel goed neergezet, hij is donker, maar dat heeft wel wat vind ik. Deze is zonder flits genomen, heb je nog een driepot gebruikt? Persoonlijk gebruik ik hem eigenlijk nooit, al zijn er situaties bij dat ik het jammer vond dat ik hem niet bij me had. Wat je in zulke gevallen kan doen is meerdere shots maken, met en zonder flitser. Gewoon een een aantal foto's schieten van hetzelfde object. John je moet het eens uitproberen. Gebruik een driepoot en experimenteer met de belichting en met de flits. Hier leer je enorm van. Ik spreek uit ervaring. Even terug op de foto. De compositie is erg goed,de kleuren zijn donker, maar wel mooi de dof vind ik ook wel mooi. Met andere eenvodige woorden. Uitstekende macro John. Proficiat met je nieuwe lens.

Heerlijk warme kleur, beetje oud-hollands, ouderwets, hoe moet ik het noemen....

(Bij de weg, ik zocht laatst op TN om even wat reacties te geven, maar zie geen foto's meer ?)

Very nice "bottom-of-the-forest" kind of light in this one, John, the color tones and textures are quite fascinating to look at. Not easy to make an appealing compo with such a subject but you did well with the diagonal angle. Well done.

La luminosité est originale, cela donne à l'image un aspect encien; c'est très appréciable. La netteté sélective est parfaite.

Hi John, dit is een prachtige herfst-makro! Het object (de paddestoel) de bruin rode kleuren, de stemmige achtergrond. Heel goed net iets uit het cetrum gecomponeerd, fijn scherp en goed gekozen DoF. Fijn sfeervol werk!

La lumière est vraiment très faible sur cette photo et honnêtement, je pense que tu pouvais descendre jusqu'à 1/125 de seconde ici, John... N'empêche, cette luminosité a l'avantage de reproduire l'ambiance sombre des bois.
Par ailleurs, la texture de ce champignon est vraiment facinante. Bien vu!

Hi John,
It seems like I'm the only one who's not fully satisfied with the pic. The specie on Your photo is the toxic Scleroderma citrinum, but now I'd like to say something else. Sharpness is good, no compo problem either, but this harsh, non-natural red is very disturbing by my opinion. Interesting that during 4 years only 'ChrisJ' mentioned it (I didn't count those critiques not written in English). Made a WS, but it wasn't easy at all, and the result isn't something I fully like either, but from the versions I've done this seemed the best.
I hope You don't mind that I was so rudely sincere, but... this is why we're here, aren't we? Best wishes, László
