Photographer’s Note
Life for the Peruvian sheperds is dictated by the seasons, the dry season from April to October, and the wet season from October to April. They will bring the llamas and sheeps up the valley, higher in the mountains during the dry season, and come back to the bottom of the valley for the wet season, period where they will repair their materials and work the wool.
This way of going up and down helps to preserve the grasses and allows for its replenishment.
Here, you see a typical place that dotted the mountains. An isolated house with a pen where the herd is kept during the night.
On the left, a pile of Llamas s--t that is put to dry, and eventually will be used as a combustible, luckily, llamas s--t has no smell. The blue tarpolin are used as a protection against the rain.

Hi Charles, a beautiful and interesting landscape, must be windy, cold and very hot there...the reminds me of the houses from the BAtanes island in my country but the landscape is completely different. Thank for sharing...Alex

Hello Charles,
This is impressive viewing. However majestic the landscape, I always like a human touch, and that's more than present here. Harsh living conditions amidst natural beauty. The clouds on the mountains are a plus, the (very) blue plastic is a bit distracting...but this is an excellent shot. Thanks for sharing it.

Hallo Charles!
What a great landscape and what a view! I like the interesting play of light and shadow and this contrast between the naked rock faces and the meadows here very much.
Greetings from Germany!

Hi Charles,
Beautiful view of the landscape.
The play of light adds such beauty to the image and as always blue looks amazing in contrast with the green grasslands.

Hello Charles ,
Quel beau paysage montagneux !

Charles,
Look like I have been here, I did the Lares trek for three days. This house look familiar to me, but I guess all little house like this up on Andes look the same. Anyway, this bring back many nice memories for me. Beautiful place, nice shot, good POV, showing the endless valley and layers of mountain ranges. I didn't post to many photo from here, they were take on film and not digital at the time I went at least 7 or 8 years ago. Thanks, this is wonderful.

Hi Charles.

Bon travail!
Amicalement et bon weekend!
Denis!

Hi Charles. I see the ubiquitous blue tarps have found their way to fartherest regions of Peru also! Wonderful view, the clouds add a nice light/shadow play to the BG. Well captured and thanks for sharing.
Have a good Sunday, Paul.

Bonjour Charles.
Excellent !

A well taken shot, Charles!
I've been to Peru, but not to this part...The vista is quite familiar, though, wild and desolate. Good use of Tele to compress the vista with the cabin on the side of the picture...Compo is well balanced as well as the exposure.
Well done!

Salut Charles,
Amazing landscape and compo! The play of light and shadows adds to the colour and texture nuances of the landscape, rendering an image of great impact. The low altitude of the clouds remind us how high that small plateau must be. Those blue plastic had a nice unexpected colour contrast.
Amicalement,
José
