Photographer’s Note
This photo was taken within the walls of the Forbidden City. It is of the PAP, People's Armed Police division of China's PLA, People's Liberation Army. This was a mid day in June. This is part of their daily routine drills.
The photo was taken in color, faded, changed to sepia, with a slight blurriness added to the edges.

Hi Michael,
Why did you do such an extreme edit to the photo? Not that I think its a bad thing.
It makes it look like an old photo from the 1940s or 1950s. I can imagine this being a photo from that era.
I'm interested in seeing the photo in true colour.
The image itself is well framed, and a good composition of the soldiers and the drill sergeant in front of them.
Is it easy to freely take photos of such things in China? I havn't been there, but I'd imagine they would start asking questions if tourists took photos of soldiers. Even in democratic countries, taking photographs of certain buildings or military activity can cause a scene.
