Not much history in Dubai……
But still there are exceptions (or, as in this case, attempts). This is Jumeirah Mosque, built in 1978 from local stone, in Fatimid style. Fatimids were an Ismaili Shia dynasty ruling Egypt in the Middle Ages and the finest examples of this style of architecture can be found in Cairo. Jumeirah Mosque is said to be a copy of one of them.
