Photographer’s Note
Very early morning in Kumarakom,a village in the backwaters.
Sorry for the overexposure, but why must he wear white and yellow when I wake up at sunrise and go out for shooting?????
But I like how he destroys the reflections with his canoe.
The reflections are from a bridge.
Some members wonder about selling milk on the river.
To be honest ,I`m not sure wether it`s milk,or maybe honey,Toddy(coconut schnaps) or.......He was not selling, just paddling, maybe to the next village or station where it is collected.
I`ll contact George from GK -riverview, where I spend 4 wonderful days.
I`m sure he will know and I`ll let you know.

Hello Andreas
Once again, an incredible shot !
You've captured such a rare scene... The timing is perfect to have the pirogue at the right place for a dynamic image.
The reflections on the water are great, with pleasant and stunning green tones which make a strong contrast.
This milk pot is very surprising, it seems so big compared to the boat ;o)
I like the face of the man who is very attentive.
A marvelous daily life scene, congrats.
Regards
Karine
Edit : The expression of the milkman is so attractive that, for me, the surexposition of the clothes is not really a big deal here.

Hi Andreas,
A quite fantastic reflection here, the lightmess in the waves form an unexpected pattern pointing down to the boat and milkman. A remarkable capture!
Kind regards

Hello Andreas,
I want to say one thing. When I receive a criticism I enjoy it, because that gives me the great opportunity to know so many other friends and their works.
If I think that these are good works I give my points, I do not feel at all obliged to do so.
Anyway I think, and I'm really sincere, that this is a great work, because is composed by few elements, but very strong, and the effect created by reflection is really amazing.
A great hug.

Hallo Leo! Tolle Fotoarbeit ... was fuer eine herrliche Reise. Schoener Abend, Barbara.

Wonderful observation and a marvellous clcik Leo.
Yes, I know why he wears the light coloured clothes;simply to beat the Sun and the heat.
You might have also observed people marking their foreheads with Sandal Pastes, and the reason is the same.
I like every iota of this beautiful shot, and straight to my list of favourites.

Hi Leo,
Tolles Bild, 1a.

Hi Andreas,
This has to be one of your better shots - I am impressed by the impact of reflections on a smooth surface and a very rippled surface side by side. Great colors and details. Fine work and TFS. Gerald

Hello Andreas,
That's a nice shot of this man in his canoe. The white that's he's wearing is not distracting at all. Great reflections in the water and yes, the ripples he creates in the water are a nice extra detail to this photo. Great work!

Hi Leo,
This takes me back to my time spent on the backwaters of Kerala, with the light and lovely colours always reflected so nicely in the calm waters creating a wonderful sense of tranquility. Great that you have captured the milk man cutting through the water and creating a nice patterened ripple effect, and his reflection is perfect too.

Hallo Andreas,
Dynamic framing and very good timing, all that water combined with the refelction and the light delivers a very luminous impressiom, I'd have traded some DoF for more speed.
Have a nice day JY

Leo,
That the first I saw this way of delivering milk. and amazing to see there are still milkman. I thought for sure that the thing in the past. I love the liquidity of this image. So brilliant the color of the reflection. I'm not sure the square format is really helpful, but doesn't do harm either.

Hi leo, yes i also like how he disturbs the reflections, makes intersting patterns. Standign on a bridge always gives you a good POV for the river below.
(I am looking at this at work for maybe it is the monitor, but the colours seem really harsh, not your normal natural colours)

Hallo LEO,
Harriet

very nice approach to this unusual milkman with all these reflections surrounding him and his boat.
The light reflected on water and on him created a very warm and reconforting atmosphere.

Hi Leo
I like exactly the aspect...how the boat passes through the water like an arrow & how the herringbone shaped waves distort the reflection. Good use of zoom here as well & the image in the WS allows us to see your vantage point. Like this!

No need, as you already know. I'm, as I said before just dropping in to see my country through your eyes. But my question remains...India Very Slow - is it the way of life as you saw it or is it the pace of your tour?
