Photographer’s Note
Again on Greenlands westcoast, in Ilulissat icefjord.
The Ilulissat icefjord was this year inscribed in UNESCO´s world heritage list. The ice comes from the Kangia glacier which daily produce 35 km3 ice to the fjord, which is the same amount of drinking water New York City consume in a year !!!
No colours has been altered, it was a "grey" day.

This just puts the human race into perspective with nature.
An excellent shot, well balanced and nice natural colours.
You are lucky to have seen such a gorgeous view of nature, thank you for sharing it with us.

Wow. Agree with Pompey on the perspective!
Nice shades of blue, and the icebergs got very nice contrasts. Very well composed and presented!
I guess you might even crop away a little more of the sea...

Great shot Allan, that must have been an amazing trip! Definitely somewhere I'd like to go. Great composition and you see that the best pictures are the ones that don't need altering. Thanks for posting. T.

Lonely and cold shot. Framing is wonderful. Places barely touched...

Splendide palette de bleus. Le petit bateau de pêche se faufilant entre les icebergs donne la mesure de cette nature majestueuse. Vraiment très impressionnant !

This really shows how small we are against the lements. Great captur, congratulations.

Magnificent display and the boat really adds a sense of scale very well.

HI Allan, Wow! talking about scale! Your composition is very nuce, that little view between the icebergs to the open ocean, and then the fishingboat just passing. Amazing, and very beautiful. Thanks very much.
It's my dream to see icebergs like this.

Fantastic shot! Impressive composition giving all the power to this huge iceberg against that little boat. Rare, the sky is darker then the land. Beautiful!

Beautiful image, very well exposed and composed by the book. The boat is a key element, giving scale to this fantastic landscape.

Amazing nature you present for us - and a "grey" day can't destroy the impression - actually do you have a very fine moody and soft light on this shot, very excellent captured with the fisherboat well placed to give us an idea of the dimensions - thanks Allan.

I have just been through the three photos of icebergs with a ship in front to provide the scale, and I must agree with a lot of others: this is the best. It has dramatic composition, you can feel the boat moving, and the sheer idea of navigating between those floating mountains gives me the shivers. A superb TE contribution.

Excellent shot! The small boat just passing the big iceberg gives a lot of perspective how big it really is. You got pleasant blue tones and a good composition. Very impressive!

This picture shows very well how small we are in this big big world. You captured the boat very well between the 2 Icebergs,I think it gives the Icebergs even more power! A 6+ for you!

what an amazing shot! it makes me drop my jaw in wonder at the size of scale in this photo! its the perfect timing, if this boat had gone, and you had taken only the iceberg, this photo would be very ordinary.. now its extraordinary!! super duper shot :)

Excellent shot Allan. The fishing boat gives us the right impression of the scale. I've added this one to my favourites!

Amazing sense of scale between the iceberg and the boat. I like how the photo is virtually entirely blue/grey without being altered.

This is very, very, very impressive. I added you to my favorites because of these iceberg photos!
Question: where did you stand/sit, taking this picture? Were you on a boat or on the shore, I wonder?

I agree with the others, a wonderful and very dramatic photo because of the fantastic light and the contrast between the boat and the iceberg. But I would have liked to compare with the shot 1 second later when the boat is only in the foreground of the deep blue sky in the horisont. But anyways a superb shot. /Jens

Hi Allan
I great shot. The fishing boat is brilliant for focus and scale. I have seen tabular bergs in Antarctica but there was nothing for scale. TFS. James
