Photographer’s Note

How to describe in few worlds how complexed the subject of Polish-Jewish co-habiatnce, love and prejudice is??
Long story, tragic one.. with 2WW we lost so many Jewish people around.. now, as I do, some Polish people desperately search and try to preserve Jewish remainings which still exist.. rare one..

Hassids pilgrimage to Poland intrigues Poles who come to watch them often with mixed feelings. Hopefully there is a lot of sorrow in them..

One of such a on-lookers, seeing me in Hassid crowd in Lelow, bond but wearing black long dress and hat, asked : "Jude?" (In German: Jewish??)

I didn't say anything concentrated on finding out his intentions.. the question wasn't polite. In fact I wasn't Jewish, but knew there was no a simple and proper answer I could give.

Agnieszka, interesting note, powerful image, as are most of those in your gallery. Jewish or not it is interesting to see you treat this culture as a national treasure. Love how you handled the exposure.

Nieprawdopodobnie dobitny, zatrzymany w czasie moment...
Razem z notka tworza historie jakze polska...Tak dobrze nam wszystkim znana...

Ta twarz tam... W cieniu...

Agnieszko, zdjecie jest mocna ilustracja, ale ja mam mieszane uczucia. Bo moze nie ma zlych uczuc u tej kobiety, ale po prostu jest zmeczona zyciem i w wiecznie zlym humorze...Moze i na tych Zydow zla, ale moze zupelnie z czego innego jej humor (badz osobowosc) wynika. Troche mi przeszkadza "interpretacja", chociaz pewnie...masz racje.
Zdjecie mocne, choc jakis PP by sie przydal ;)

Hi Agnieszka,
her look, staring into another world, tells it all..the mixed feelings, the unresolved past.
Great one again.
I also like that her nose is meeting the diagonal line of the grid, a perfect focal point.

Beautiful light Agnieszka. I like very much the division of the image in the interior and exterior world... The curiosity of the woman is so wonderfully captured... but what I admire the most is the light and the colors... Excellent work!

Cała wielka historia jest tu napisana tym obrazem. Podoba mi się idea, którą wyłożyłaś na temat PP. To jest wielkie wyzwanie i trudna droga, na pewno trudniejsza niż praca prestidigitatora w PS.
