Photographer’s Note

I'd be interested in any suggestions on scanning this picture. The projected slide looks a lot better. In particular, the sky should appear less dark and more blue. The scanner perhaps has it's own ideas about the amount of light and dark areas which a picture should have while this picture really doesn't have any really dark areas. I'm using a Nikon Coolscan IV and Nikon's software.

The picture was taken on a trip out of Chamonix. To give you an idea of where this is, Mont Blanc was behind me as I was taking the picture. I'm told that this is the Dome de Miage glacier.

The curve of the ridge dividing the two sections of the photo - one all white and the other showing the details of the drifts. These facets make for a loverly composition

The contrast between the sky and the snowy peak is great. The exposure and especially the composition is also spot on. Did you ski or climb in that area?
