Photographer’s Note

I dedicate this post to fanni/Elena Su of Russia. Because the sunlight was on the girl with black scarf, so I titled it this way to highlight her presence even when she was not looking this way. Next week I would post 2 of 2 of this black head scarf; my next post will be about a cyclist in Chinatown. I strolled along Kuching waterfront along Sarawak River and this pair of young muslim girls were having what I guess would be welcome drink on the Sarawak River Cruise. The girl at left saw my camera and quickly uttered a word. I immediately raised my thumb up and she paused momentarily. The steel railing is part of the upper deck of cruise boat. I had to crop out the bottom due to some obstructing elements.

If you have time, Sarawak River Cruise costing RM88/pax is 2 hours during sunset/evening and includes a meal/drink. A traditional ‘tambang’ yacht will take you past places of interest like the Kuching Waterfront, Square Tower (formerly a prison), a multi-purpose market, old State Mosque with five onion-shaped domes, a Malay house on stilts and the Satok Suspension Bridge before heading the other side of the river to see the Astana (former palace of the White Rajahs), Fort Margherita (now a police museum) and a fishing village.

If your cruise happens on a Sunday, you will get to see village children splashing along the river or diving from treetops while shouting greetings at you.
