Photographer’s Note

Sometimes it is just weeks or even days between snow storms and the first time you can sit outside again, feeling the warm spring sun on your pale winter skin. Life comes back, ideas grow, plans are made. I thought I “prepare” myself with this picture and yet is seems we have another snowy night head of us, meaning slippery roads, shovelling the door steps tomorrow morning and wearing the same winter coat since November … yes, I have washed it twice … LOL!

This photo was taken in Winterthur, after a seven hour brunch-lunch :))) and I thought I deserved a little by myself photo shooting. The location is used by many photographers meanwhile and when I saw the first tripod on someone’s shoulder passing by when I looked out of the window … I joined in, I mean who wouldn’t, wouldn’t you? This is pretty industrial and once a famous industry came from here, now replaced by fancy lofts and small businesses, where hundreds had work one or two employees the most in these days.

Hallo Barbara!
Der Aufforderung folge ich gerne. Als frischgebackener Rentner muss man ja lernen einen oder zwei Gänge "runterzuschalten". So ein sonniges Plätzchen ist schon einladend - es fehlt nur der Tisch für den Kaffee oder ein Glaschen Wein. Ein schönes, einladendes und nicht alltägliches Bild!

Ciao Barbara,
Musste mich doch überlegen, woher hast Du so ein schönes Licht in Winti bekommen, dann habe ich das Datum gesehen, also es ist nicht dad ganze Jahr grau dort ;-)
Mir gefällt hier, dass die Stühle sich überlappen und so die Leute verbinden, die sich drauf setzen könnten. Apropos Schnee, habe heute ein WS hochgeladen.

Yes Spring is around the corner and these chairs are just waiting for someone to sit in them and enjoy the surroundings. Nicely exposed as the chairs and BG both show lots of detail.

Hi, Barbara.
Somebody living in Malibu or Miami Beach might be a little slow in getting this one, but... for someone like me, living in GREY for 300 days a year, this makes A LOT of sense! I absolutely love it, as I know how it feels longing for a little sunshine, waiting day after day for the first hints of Spring... just like you say : life comes back, ideas grow, plans are made! Hi Barbara,
Looks like you are suffring from a bit of cabin fever which strikes in the later part of a long winter.
The circle of chairs are seen in fine warm light that does beckon spring.
Before you know it the birds will sing again and we will sneeze from all that spring pollen.
My daughters are school teachers and they love a good snow storm.

lol, the two chairs seem to be holding hands in some chairs-only ceremony :D the light is nice, it feels just on the edge between the winter and the spring, I've always liked such days. the WS photo is great too, I like the hypnotic perspective there.

ein wunderschönes Licht hast Du da eingefangen! Eine schlichte Aufnahme, aber deswegen nicht weniger schön. Es sieht fast aus, als würden die Stühle einen kleinen Plausch halten...
Ich kann es kaum erwarten, wieder draußen zu sitzen, aber das wird hier wohl noch eine Weile dauern. Vorhin hat es gerade fünf Minuten kräftig geschneit...

It still seems as if spring will never arrive, although we do have some sun today. Your image of the garden chairs gives us some hope. They'll be selling them in the shops again soon! They make a nice little group, surely doing a square dance! ;D

Hallo liebe Barbara,
Schlicht und einfach aber gut ueberlegt und gesehen. Der leicht blaeuliche Hintergrund mit der Holzfarbe (sind aber nicht Holz, oder ?) der Sessel bildet einen huebschen Kontrast.
In den dreissiger Jahren hatten die beruehmten Photographen damals allee photographiert, wie Sessel, Vasen, Trinkbecher etc etc; dann kam die Moder der "Postkartenbilder" . Warum ? Hier hast Du bewiesen dass man auch ganz einfache Gartensessel als photoobjekte bewerten kann !

Babara,
Why are thy chained down the chair, are they afraid the chair might run away, like dog. Maybe it's too cold and these chairs want to go south to a warmer place, so sad. The most appreciated sunlight are the one that come in the unlikely time. This look very inviting, especially for those who have been chovelling snow for the last few months. Well, we getting closer each day to warmer days. I like the workshop image too with the graphical element of lines and shapes. Thanks Barbara

so those are the ones...but they are five! :) I like the graphical apealing of these chairs...also thinking about the context or what happened there. A meeting, discussion? It's interesting to think about it. Very nice composition!
