Photographer’s Note

The "falling spring" reveals the reason for the proliferation of water mills in Missouri, during the late 1800,s and early 1900's. The geology of this region caused these springs, which provided for a steady, reliable source of power - better than rivers and streams, which were prone to flood or dry up.
