BASCARSIJA
Long before the Turks settled in the territory of today's Sarajevo, Bascarsija was a meeting point for tradesmen of East and West. Once Sarajevo was founded by Isha-beg Ishakovic, a specific trade and craft centre called Bascarsija was built. The construction drew roots from the Arabic structures of similar type, encapsulating numerous trade units, interwoven with many tight streets, each carrying the name of one of the crafts.
