Photographer’s Note
Mayda Pitan, a Kelabit coming through the acrid smoky atmosphere of a salt spring mill inside the kerangas forest about 6km from her village, Pa' Umur, a village about 2 hours walk from Bario town center. Bario salt is priced for its high mineral content beside the other fame produce of Bario, which is the fragrant Bario rice.
Bario is a Kelabit settlement in the Plains of Bah in the Kelabit Highland of the Tama Abu Range, is the most isolated community in Sarawak and Malaysia. Nestled on a plateau 1000m up the mountainous range, the easiest way in is the 45 minutes flight from Miri. The other way is a 4 days jungle trekking walk from Ba' Kalalan. You could also drive in to Bario from Miri but it involved a 12 to 14 hours dirt drive on 4WD vehicle.

A very lively scene, with a perfect light.
I like the wide angle pov, which gets into the scene.

Hello Rabani,
This is a very powerful shot that hasn't gotten the attention it deserves, I feel. The pictures captures the uncomfortable working atmosphere, but the T-shirt seems to indicate this place - however isolated - does get tourist visitors. Very interesting shot. Powerful image. Thanks for uploading it.
