The Louis Vuitton Pacific Series

Team New Zealand racing BMW Oracle in yachting's Louis Vuitton Pacific Series on Auckland's Hauraki Gulf.

This is 2 minutes after the start.

Team NZ led Oracle BMW around the first mark by 14 seconds. Although Oracle briefly took the lead on the second upwind beat, Team New Zealand rounded the final mark in front and won by 27 seconds.

I was fortunate to be out on the harbour to watch the 4 races that were held on Saturday. And what a super day it was.

It’s not easy focusing on the racing yachts from a moving boat on a choppy sea on a windy day!! There was a good breeze – it got up to maybe 19 knots by the last race.

Also I found the position of the sun not as I would have wished either, but I had to take it as it came.

Nice to meet you again! Your photo really transmits something like dynamics and one can nearly feel the stiff breeze ;-) These sails really are imposing and the buoy is a beautiful and eyecatching addition. A not everyday photo indeed ...

JANICE... you make me homesick AGAIN!!!
A great capture of the boats racing from their start. Looks like it was one of those great days on the water, warm with a good breeze for some good speed :-)

I particularly like seeing the land behind the yachts, shows how close they are and how lucky people of costal North Shore are :-)
