Last light on Gross Fischerhorn Photo

Photographer’s Note

Gross Fischerhorn (4.049 m) is one of the highest summits in Bernese Alps. This mountain can be seen only from the village of Grindelwald. It was first reached on 23 July 1862 by H. B. George and Adolphus Warburton Moore, with guides Christian Almer and Ulrich Kaufmann. Here we see it in the evening with the last sunrays on the mountain top. The shot was made from the balcony of the house in Grindelwald where I was staying for a week. Focal length 179 mm. Colors are real.

Hallo Alexander,

Met dit uitzicht vanaf het balkon willen we allemaal wel een weekje in Grindelwald zitten. Prachtig licht op de toppen en mooi hoe tevens de hel rim nog in het licht zit. Tevens is de detailering in de donkere partijen over the rotsen ook prima belicht. De hoeken zijn wat donekr door de vigettering, maar dat mag ik in dit soort foto's wel zien...

I like the sunlit snowy ridge. The reflected sunset colors of yellow orange contrast well against the deep blue sky. Good sharpness & framing. Have a great weekend!

I love how the last light is tinting the snow pink. Very good exposure as there is plenty of detail visible in the shadows and no sign of over-expoure on the whites in the sun. Wondeful view from your balcony.

Gorgeous light, Alexander. What most is most amazing is that this was taken from the place you were staying. What a great place to stay with such a breathtaking view. Beautiful balance of horizontal stripes in the compo. Besides the evident atractive top I also love the abstract textures on the bottom.
