St. Martin in Partenen / Austria Photo

Photographer’s Note

Once more back to last summer ...

Here I show you the tiny church "St. Martin" of the village Partenen, the upmost village in Montafon valley in the Austrian federal state Vorarlberg.
Partenen is situated in an altitude of about 1.050 meters between the massifs of Silvretta (3.414 m) and Verwall (3.168 m). Please see map view left hand. Zooming in you'll find the marker in the very sharp aerial photo exactly at the church.
Partenen is the starting point of "Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße, a most impressive mountain pass, leading up to 2.050 meters.

The first church here was built in 1729 but it - and most of the village - burnt down in the year 1800. Shortly after the church was rebuilt. The bishop of Linz, Franz Joseph Rudigier (1811 - 1884), born in Partenen, several times donated tidy sums of money in order to maintain St. Martin. In the background you can see "Breitspitz" with an altitude of 2.202 meters - marking the upper end of Montafon valley - a really gorgeous holiday destination.

Bonjour Frank ,
C'est vraiment la beauté des villages alpins . Cette petite église et son clocher à bulbe est merveilleuse . La composition , avec le chalet au premier plan , est bien étudiée . Evidemment , la lumière était délicate à gérer , le soleil étant en face : tu t'en sors pas mal .

Bonjour, cher Frank,
Voilà plusieurs compositions qui sont très agréables à contempler. Il émane une douceur de vivre à travers ces très belles réalisations. L'église se dresse fièrement avec son clocher couronné d'un bulbe coloré.
Quant à l'environnement : un véritable délice.
Ici, ciel gris, température positive, mais l'ensemble est bien triste.

j'adore ces petits clochers typiques de ta région, c'est superbe comme cette petite chapelle que tu nous présentes de face avec un beau paysage en arrière plan
j'imagine le son du carillon avec l'echo dans ces montagnes...

Guten morgen lieber Frank,
Wo findest Du diese "menschenleere" Ecken ?
Gutes Standpunkt, schoene Lichter und alles schoen sauber. Ein Plazt zum leben und lieben. Vielleicht auch zum meditieren.
Die steilen "hoehen" hinten, bilden einen schoenen Hintergrund der Szene.
Ich bin gespannt auf die Innenaufnahme morgen, hoffentlich nicht allzu viel verschnoerkelt und so einfach und schlicht wie das aeussere !

Hello Frank,
A fine composition of this little church with its delightful onion dome. The tree covered mountains make a fine backdrop and are nicely complemented by the tree on the right. Very good colours and clarity.

A beautiful landscape and a beautiful church, well known to us, although we haven´t been here for several years. But we still remember this as one of the most beautiful valleys in the Alps. A very attractive photo!

This is a well composed shot of this fine church. The church is well framed by the tree and building. The mountains form a great backdrop for the scene. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail. The sky is a little overexposed but it does not hurt the overall shot.

Hallo Frank,
die Kirche in ihrer Umgebung ist sehr lieb und schön. Ich halte für geschickte Lösung, dass Du die Sicht an beiden Seiten (links mit dem Haus, rechts mit dem Baum) geschlossen hast. So bekommt die Kirche ein geschütztes Vorfeld, das die Atmosphäre intimer und freundlicher macht. Sehr gut gelungen!

I like small Austrian and Bavarian villagers like this. I'm planning another trip this year. Partenen might be a good place to be to walk in the mountain in that area. I've come across the name Silvretta in my hiking books. Beautiful, peaceful, and quiet village. Nice afternoon mood. Regards. Latiff.
