Photographer’s Note
Let's see if those of you who dislike my last post like this one better. :-) Or at least don't get too bored with another photo of this town and building, which I already showed in an earlier post that apparently wasn't too popular either. I often find quite difficult to get inspiration to photograph familiar places. That tends to ease sometimes since I am in TE, but I still sense that I am not the only one that feels that my own photos of familiar places are less attractive (achieved? inspired?) than the others I shot elsewhere. I wonder if that is so usual with other photographers as I think it is.
The image is a stitch of two horizontal shots. If you are already thinking that this is another geeky delirium, don't panic, this was a quite simple stitching done in Hugin (as always) because the shots overlap much and the POV didn't cause much perspective distortion, despite the short focal length, equivalent to 28mm in a classic film SLR. I guessed that things would get much more complicated if I wanted to include the corner of the pool that seems to be under the POV, which maybe would make the compo more appealing.
WS: A more distant POV.
The rest of the note is copied from my post above mentioned.
This is the "new" Town Hall of Portalegre. I put the new between quotes because the Town Hall used to be in another old building until about two years ago, when it was moved to this renovated building dating from the 17th century, which was originally built to house a Jesuit college, but was converted to a big textile factory the next century, after the expulsion of the Jesuits from Portugal. I have no idea of when the the factory stopped working. As far as I know, in the early 1970's it didn't work any more, although a small part of the building housed the tapestry manufacture that produced the relatively famous Portalegre tapestries [1, 2], which was moved to another place some years ago.

Amicalement

Hello José,
A view with a very strong perspective and sense of composition. The lines of the water basin strongly support the inherent perspective of the building, but is at the same time somewhat different which gives dynamism. Technically well done with the perfect vertical lines. Good natural and clear colours proving that shadow pictures can be more attractive than direct sunblight views.

Paul

Is the lens a different one from the one you usually use, as there is a different quality about these posts than usual. (not better or worse - just different)It might be to do with the light that day (or something new in PP?)Both these images look extra sharp (not over-sharp)and look like images you would see in an architect's brochure. The strong perspective works well and I enjoy the details of the reflections in the windows and the water feature.

Hi Jose.
This is such a very nice perspective of the town hall. Well framed and the sharpness and details are flawless. I like the contrast it makes against the rather moody sky.
TFS and have a nice day,

Hello José
I like the diagonal that the town hall makes. The image is symmetrical. The details are impressive and the colours are nice. I like the texture of the roof and the point of view well chosen. Thanks for sharing and good work!
Best regards
