Photographer’s Note

Perast is an old town by the Adriatic sea in Montenegro. Today it's just a small village with a few hundred inhabitants, but in the 18th century it was a fairly important town, belonging to the Venetian Republic, boosting of 16 baroque palaces, 19 churches, 4 shipyards and a fleet of about 100 ships.
One of the famous sons of Perast was Matija Zmajevic, who in the early 18th century travelled to Saint Petersburg, where he entered the service of Peter the Great, became an admiral in the Russian Baltic fleet and successfully fought the Swedes.
Today only memories remain of the glorious past of Perast, but it's a nice place to stop for a short while on a sunny day.
